My name is Jessie Wright, and I was born in the year 2001, in the city of Las Vegas, Nevada, where I currently live with my mother, father, and younger brother. In the near future, I will be attending college at Western Washington University to earn a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) and pursue a career in the field of visual arts.
Being given the chance to share my art with the world is an incredible opportunity and one I intend to seize wholeheartedly without reservation. I have consistently proven throughout my life that when presented with an opportunity I strive as hard as I can to best represent myself and those who have granted me the chance to prove such. Despite emotional hardship and enduring the many statements I have received regarding my decision to pursue a career in the field of art, I have always done what is necessary to further my studies and accomplishments as an artist.
For instance, in the ninth grade, I contributed to a mural in Ely, Nevada, called ‘Where the World Met and Became One;’ the mural highlights the ethnic diversity of the women who formed the community, sparking a sense of pride and revitalization within the region. I was responsible for creating 4 separate works of art for the mural. As for my latest work in progress, I have recently founded “Love Bears All Things,” a project centered around 1 Corinthians 13:7-8, which states, “Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends […];” For the project, I visit several children’s hospitals, bringing each patient a teddy bear as well as a miniature painting inscribed with a Bible verse and/or motivational quote in hopes of not only being able to spread the word of God and his love, but also being able to incorporate my passion for art into helping the greater good. The ultimate goal of this project is to bring a little inspiration and hope to the children who are ill. This project is very near and dear to me as my sister had to spend two weeks in the hospital after becoming very ill from appendicitis at age thirteen. While at the hospital, we were all very touched by all of the other families and staff there to support the children—many of which not so fortunate as my sister.
I look forward to using everything I have learned from my time in the Conservatory of the Fine Arts at Faith Lutheran Middle School & High School to further my experience in the art field in the future. I plan to make the most of my time and every opportunity presented to me in the future, all the while acknowledging the fact that God has a plan for me and will guide me according to His will.
I am driven and strive to better both myself, as well as the community in which I live, and I am beyond blessed to be able to use my God-given talents of artistic expression to do so. I truly hope you enjoy my art, and I hope I am able to inspire those who visit this site.
